Things have started to kickoff

I am happy to report that this Wednesday things have started to kickoff with the Statup Chile meetup. 150+ entrepreneurs attended. It was a great opportunity to network and learn what cool things people are developing. As expected many are developing mobile apps. However I met a Chilean team that was looking to develop a new educational toy that combines sports and music. I spoke to several local entrepreneurs that were in the process of submitting their pitches to SUP Chile and they were eager to get my assistance in reviewing their proposals. Given many of these teams spoke very little English I think I could deliver value by proofreading their presentations. I gave them my business card. I hope this will bear fruit and they will get in touch.

Yesterday, I attended an expat night out organised by Internations. This had 200+ attendees from a wide range of sectors. Here too I connected with several interesting business people. I will have followup meetings with Brad (an entrepreneur looking to establish a VC/incubator here apparently he has committed funding from 3 VCs based in San Fran), Pablo (a business person that imports everyday items from China) and Andres (a corporate lawyer who will connect me with his friend that is currently developing a startup idea). Of course the night was also fun with lots of dancing and drinks. I’m looking forward to the next one.

The most significant progress is that I have my first piece of financial analysis to do for a startup. This startup is looking to recruit a financial controller. The founder and current CEO, sent me their financial reports to glance over, check and do some analysis on. This is a test to see my aptitude in matters of accounting, finance and management reporting. Its wonderful to have some work.

Have a nice weekend everyone.
