South American Adventures

Taking flying leaps into the unknown

My first few minutes of fame :)

It has been merely 6 weeks since I landed in Santiago and the limelight has already found me well for a few brief moments anyway. 😀

Last week Diego (my biz partner) and I were selected to partake in a startup competition called Geek Fantasy Camp with Fundacity. The show was filmed and is being edited for a reality TV show here in Chile. Based on the quality of the Youtube clips it will be the worst quality TV show in this millenium….but hey gotta startup somewhere right? 😀 The competition was a great experience. We learnt a lot and met some very interesting people in the startup community here.

Fundacity.com aims to be Latin America’s best database for startups. Like Angel List it is a web based platform where startups and investors can find out who is who in the Latam startup scene. A platform where users can make initial contact, share thoughts, collaborate and look up key players. Foreign investors looking to enter the startup scene in South America will be able to use Fundacity to research who the main VCs, incubators and angels are here and be able to invest in upcoming funding rounds of their portfolio companies. It will also present the winners of startup competitions which helps investors find promising early stage startups.  Equally startups can find investors, VCs and incubators that invest in their product area.
