At the beginning of November we had 2 public holidays in Chile giving us a 4 day weekend! Yay! It was a fantastic opportunity to leave smogey Santiago and head to the country or coast to breath some fresh air. We hopped onto the first of the 3 buses we had to take to Siete Tazas…it felt like everyone had the same idea….it was somewhat crowded….
but don’t fear we had beer!
We stayed at a rather obscure settlement that had a number of camping zones, wooden cabins, 1 official and 1 unlicenced liquor store (the latter played an invaluable role at 2am when the pisco supplies were depleted ahead of schedule). We arrived Thursday evening, too late for any meaningful hiking, but we had a lovely evening drinking pisco bon the bank of a mountain stream that was located 50 meters from our cabin.
Friday we did an amazing amount of hiking. Some people, not gonna name and shame, couldn’t keep up :D. We trekked up a mountain to the Siete Tazas national park which has several amazing waterfalls and crystal clear rivers (ice cold!). It was beautiful and above all it was great exercise.
but in the end i simply couldn’t handle it 😀
